Manage Blogs > Add Existing Blog
Here is where you add an existing blog that you want to include into the system. This is a blog you installed without using wpmanagerdx and is on the same host/IP as the wpmdx script. Domain and Hosting Account Info Here you will enter all the information for your cPanel webhost and Blog Information. Please refer to your webhost login information that you received when you bought their services. Hostname/Domain - eg. www.yourdomain.com Web Folder (empty if none) - Case sensitive. E.g. enter MyBlog if you want it to be installed in www.foo.com/MyBlog. It is advised to use some web folder for installation rather than to clobber web root, it makes easier to uninstall. cPanel Login username - enter the username that your webhost gave you. cPanel Login password - enter the password of your cpanel login. Use single DB: - It may be cleaner solution to use separate database for each blog. However you may not be able to remove hosting provider limit on database count and then you would need to stack all sql tables into single database per cpanel account. You can't change this option for already installed blogs. Only required for Addon Domain Installations In this part you will setup the addon domain info. This will only apply if you are installing blogs on addon domains. Addon domains are domains you already added within your Primary domain's Cpanel > Addon Domains section. This is mostly used in shared hosting when resources are limited and hosting allows you to add unlimited domains but as addon domains. Let me explain the first 3 options here: 1. Home directory begins with?: select the one that pertains to your host. You will find this information in your cpanel on the left side where you see all the info about the server you are on. (ie. /home/username) 2. Hostname/domain/addon domain/sub-domain inside folder?: You need to check this. 3. Domain folder name: This gets a little tricky. Enter the addon domain folder name your host creates when you first added the addon domain in your cpanel. You can see how it was done by going into Cpanel > Addon Domains and where you see the list of the domains you will notice the folder it was created. (ie. addondomain.com or addondomain) You need to enter exactly the folder name you see in there. Blog Information, Theme, Plugins & First Post Here you will enter the info for your blog. Site Name - enter the name you would like your blog to have (Ex. My Online Blog) Tag Line of Description - enter the sub-line you want to use for under the Site name. Owner Name - your name. Owner Email - your email address. Admin Login - enter your blog's admin username. Admin Password - password for your WordPress blog. Theme - select the Theme your blog is using if you like. Plugins - select the Plugins your blog is using if you like. The third option will include this blog, so Cron Job Upgrades Plugins in WordPress Admin Area > Plugins section directly. (this feature will only work with plugins that offer the Upgrade Automatically feature via WordPress admin area > Plugins section). For this function to work you will need to setup Cron job in cpanel. Please refer to the WP ManagerDX Installation Guide on how to setup correctly. First Post Title - enter the title of the first post you will want to appear in the category above. This post you can see when you first access this blog's main page. First Post Content - enter the content (body) of the post above. Add New Page(s), Categories & General Settings Add New Page(s): This part is for you to add up to 6 pages to your blog if you wish. Leave back if you don't want to add any pages. HTML code is allowed in the Page Content Textbox. Category Name - enter the name of the first category you want to include with this blog. If you wish to have more fields so you can add more categories then click the link that reads: Add more Category field(s) Ping URLs - this is the list of sites that will know when you have publish some posts. Letting them know you have new content. Posts per page - enter the amount of posts you want to show on each of your blog's pages. There is Blogroll section on the right side of your blog that has links to other sites. You may disable/delete these links or enter your own ones here. Summaries for feeds - check this option if you want to only show an excerpt of the content of this post. This is useful for people using your RSS feeds. Dissallow Comments - leave unchecked if you want to Allow people to post comments on the article else check and it will NOT Allow people to post comments on the article. Block search engine - If you want search engines to not spider your blog then check this option, else leave unchecked and search engines will spider your blog. Default setting is I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors Visible blogroll links - Makes existing or default WP blogroll links visible or not Permalink structure - This is the url structure for each link on the blog. Recommended structure: /%postname%/ Links - this information will be for setting up blog links In this part you can enter Your Own Blogroll Links (this will create your own links list instead of showing the default links list). Please Note: If you want to add more Link fields to enter more links info then click the Add more Link field(s) Manage Remote Publishing Options Check both options here if you want to post to WordPress from a desktop blogging client or remote website that uses the Atom Publishing Protocol or one of the XML-RPC publishing interfaces you must enable them below. This new feature was integrated by WordPress in version 2.6 and over. POP3 Mail Info - this information will be for setting up to post via email You may post to blogs directly from your email client program. If you wish to do so, create secret POP3 mailbox and enter it's info below. When you will email a message to that mailbox, it will appear as blog posting. Last part of this section where you choose a button below for processing: When creating a new project you will only see the Create, Install and Overwrite Installation buttons. When Editing an Existing project you will see more button options such as Save, Delete, Uninstall, Install, Overwrite Installation, and Update installation. Explanation for each option: Create Project >> - this will create(save) a new project without actually installing the WordPress blog on the domain. If you use this option then you will see it listed in the Pending Blog Installs section. From there you can access progect for editing or updating. Overwrite Installation >> - this option will overwrite an already installed WordPress blog. CAUTION: This overwrite installation will replace all files and also the database. |
